Absurdity

Somewhere along the empty road
We will stop within our tracks
And find a little shack
To take a moment away to rest
Away from the demanding life
And the insurmountable stress.

We will watch the sky in silence
Leaning on the creaking fence
Then I will turn to look at you
To see the beams of sunshine
Reflecting the sorrow
That has been residing within your eyes
Unnoticed, for far too long.

I always thought you were unreal
Always happy, always confident
But now I see the inevitable truth
You and I, although different
Are just the same.

Perhaps with our own set of strengths
But ultimately:
Insecure and vulnerable;
Tragically human.
